The Mid-term Conference of the ENPI CBC MED was held in Rome, July 17th-18th at Confindustria[1] headquarters.
ENPI CBC MED is a multilateral cross-border cooperation initiative funded by the European Union through the Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument ENPI (European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument) and it involves 14 countries within the Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme 2007-2013 with the objective to promote a process of sustainable and harmonious cooperation in the Mediterranean, facing common challenges and exploiting the potential of the 76 regions involved.
“To get out of the economic crisis, the ENPI CBC MED can be the right choice and the results achieved so far are encouraging”. This is what the vice-President of Sardinia Region, Giorgio La Spisa, said during the opening ceremony of the Conference.
“We are at half way and results achieved are positive, there are good opportunities that the programme will improve and it will involve more actors in the future”, the Vice-President said. “The ENPI CBC Programme – he continued – represents also the possibility to spread shared values and support integration between all the countries in the area”.
37 projects have been approved and 23 have already been pre-financed. The balance is positive but it is necessary to continue to invest and provide continuity to the Programme.
WATCH BoT D. Adelfio and E. Marocco attended the two days conference organized by the Sardinia Region with other associations, local authorities, chambers of commerce and universities. The ENPI CBC MED offers plenty of room for considerations about the possible promotion of the results achieved within the CIUDAD War Free World Heritage Listed Cities project generating a multiplier effect on a wider regional spectrum capitalising from the experience gained so far.
