Follow ups of an international workshop are ongoing within the framework of the of the War Free World Heritage Listed Cities project which is implemented under the EU ENPI CIUDAD regional programme. The international workshop took place in Rome (16-17 May 2013)and was hosted at the University La Sapienza in Rome and it represented a crucial activity as results achieved so far were displayed and reviewed together with experts from ICOMOS, ICCROM, IIIHL and other concerned civil and military organisations as well as independent international experts, all engaged in the field of cultural heritage protection, urban planning and management, humanitarian law and other relevant subjects addressed by the project. Possible improvements, integration or validation of data collected so far were widely analyzed before completing two dossiers to apply for the enhanced protection of the world heritage sites of Byblos and Mtskheta according to the provisions of the Guidelines for the 1999 Second Protocol to the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict.
