On November 9th, 2012 at “Teatro Centrale Carlsberg” of Rome (Via Celsa, 6) CITTALIA – the research institute of the Italian municipalities association – is organizing a seminar in the framework of the SuPorts project and included in the official calendar of the Open Days 2012 local events promoted by the European Commission and by the Committee of the Regions.
The event aims to provide European cities, port authorities, experts and interested citizens with an opportunity to discuss the theme of innovation and eco-sustainability of local ports starting from the experiences/practices developed and exchanged during recent EU territorial cooperation/interregional projects such as SuPorts. In particular, the seminar aims at stimulating an open debate in the perspective of developing or strengthening a strategic urban vision connected with the environmental enhancement of cities characterized by the presence of local ports and changing coastlines. The theme of sustainable management of European local ports will be discussed on the foreground of the European regulatory framework and the discussion will range from the impact of the territorial (interregional) cooperation on the sustainability of port cities to the national and European policies and frameworks. The event is aimed at elected local politicians, officers and practitioners from local authorities, port authorities, experts, universities and the scientific community, and project partners from across Europe.
