Self-governing Municipality of Mtskheta is formed by Sakrebulo, the representative body and Gamgeoba (City Hall), the executive body.
The 98 staff City Hall of 9 structural and 24 territorial units in its charge is led by the Mayor. The territorial units are 62 villages of the total area of 805,5 sq. m. and the population of 56,900.

Administrative center of the Municipality is located in the ancient town of Mtskheta, which is also the administrative centre of a larger Mtskheta-Mtianeti region.
The goal of the City Hall regarding the ancient Georgian capital Mtskheta is to ensure sustainable development through the involvement of the local community, investment attraction, heritage protection and promotion, tourism development and international cooperation.
The War Free World Heritage Listed Cities project is being implemented by the Mtskheta City Hall. Mr. Teimuraz Abashidze, the Mayor, is a member of the Executive Committee of this CIUDAD project.
