A concept study will take place in the historic city of Mtskheta (Georgia) from 27th to 30th September 2011 within the framework of War Free World Heritage Listed Cities project.
Objective of this activity is to conduct an assessment of the existing factors of threat to listed urban heritage sites that were recently at risk from armed conflicts. This activity represents a crucial moment of the project when the current situation on the ground will be analysed and recorded through experts’ ground survey and desk review. Over twenty five civil and military experts’ with different backgrounds from national and international organisations will gather in Mtskheta to reconcile Urban planning, Listed urban heritage sites management vis-a-vis Humanitarian law and the provisions of the (1999) Second Protocol to the (1954) Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the event of Armed Conflict.
