Giorgio Blais, retired Major General of the Italian Army (Alpini – Mountain Troops), developed a deep knowledge of the international law on armed conflict and has been for four years the Director of Military Studies and subsequently for eight years (two mandates) the Vice President of the International Institute of Humanitarian Law.
Concerning his last professional experiences, he was appointed as the Director of Regional Centre Banja Luka in the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, on December 2003, and held that position until December 2009.
He was also lecturer of “Methodology of Documentation” at the Rome University.
He has a degree in journalism and collaborated with a number of Italian newspapers and magazines.
In summer 2000, he made a lonely travel on foot crossing Italy from North to South for 1.700 km in fifty days.
